LEARN THE SONGS
FROM THE DRUMMER
WHO CREATED THE PARTS
This Is More Than A Drum Clinic
A two-day, hands-on drum intensive with
Bill Gibson of Huey Lewis and The News.
A small-group, hands-on intensive for drum set students and adult drummers at The Drum Set Coach Academy in Palmer Lake, Colorado.
Approximately 10 hours across Saturday & Sunday, Oct 31-Nov 1.
This is not a typical clinic. You will be close to the playing, the stories, the decisions, and the coaching.
WHAT MAKES THIS
DRUM SET INTENSIVE
DIFFERENT...
CLOSE-UP LEARNING
SMALL GROUP
DIRECT ACCESS
Most drum clinics are watch-and-listen events.
This weekend is built for playing, questions, feedback, and close-up learning.
You will see how Bill approaches a song, supports a band, shapes a drum part, and brings power without overpowering the music.
Bill will break down the grooves, fills, sounds, and choices behind the music, then coach students as they play the material themselves.
THE EXPERIENCE
Bill demonstrates up close.
You hear why the part works.
You learn how the part was developed.
You play, then refine.
You play the material.
You receive personal coaching in a small-group setting.
The focus is not just what to play. It is how to think, listen, and perform like a working drummer.
THIS IS MORE THAN JUST TECHNIQUE
Of course we will talk about drums.
But some of the most valuable lessons may be about musicianship, groove, listening, creativity, professionalism, longevity, songwriting, recording, touring, working with other musicians, and serving the music.
Bill has spent decades doing the things so many drummers dream about doing.
Now students will have the opportunity to sit in the room with him, ask questions, hear the stories behind the music, watch him demonstrate the concepts, and then apply those ideas to their own playing.
ABOUT BILL GIBSON
Bill Gibson is the drummer for and founding member of Huey Lewis & The News.
His playing helped define the sound, feel, and energy of the band’s songs in the studio and on stage.
During this intensive, Bill will share the musical thinking behind the parts, the live evolution of the songs, and the professional choices that make a drummer valuable in a band.
ENROLLMENT
Enrollment limited to 8 students and is intentionally small so students can stay close to the instruction and receive meaningful coaching.
Rare access. Focused playing. A full weekend with one of the most recognizable drummers in American rock and pop music.
